Miami Peel®+ is a clinically proven light-to-medium depth chemical peel designed to exfoliate the skin, brighten discoloration, and help prevent future pigmentation. Formulated without hydroquinone, it’s ideal for improving the appearance of melasma, sun damage, dark spots, and acne-related hyperpigmentation as part of a physician-supervised skincare program. It’s also effective for adults experiencing breakouts, helping to refine texture and tone while addressing the visible marks that acne can leave behind. Speak with your provider to see if the Miami Peel®+ is right for your skin.
Q: How does the Miami Peel®+ exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin?
A: The peel works by gently removing the outermost layer of skin, which begins to flake or slough off within a few days. This process reveals smoother, brighter, more even-toned skin underneath while stimulating collagen production. It also helps fade dark spots, soften rough texture, and reduce the appearance of acne scars or post-surgical pigmentation.
Q: What ingredients drive the peel’s brightening and exfoliating effects?
A: Miami Peel®+ combines clinically backed Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acids, brighteners, and antioxidants:
- Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, and Salicylic Acid (natural fruit acids) exfoliate, smooth, and unclog pores
- Hexylresorcinol, a powerful tyrosinase inhibitor, is four times more effective than hydroquinone for lightening pigmentation
- Azelaic Acid helps reduce acne and redness while brightening uneven tone
- Kojic Acid (from rice mold) offers antimicrobial and brightening benefits
- Phytic Acid, derived from grains, gently exfoliates and protects with antioxidant activity
Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: Most patients benefit from a series of 6–8 treatments, spaced out over several weeks. Your provider will customize the schedule based on your skin’s condition and goals.
Q: Is there downtime after a Miami Peel®+?
A: Minimal downtime is expected. You may experience light flaking or redness for 2–5 days post-treatment. Many patients return to work the same day, just avoid heat, sun, and be diligent with broad-spectrum sunscreen like Q-Sunshade SPF 30+ / PA+++. Never pick or peel skin; allow it to exfoliate naturally.
Q: When will my skin start peeling, and for how long?
A: Light flaking typically begins by day 2 or 3 and may last up to 5–6 days. Each individual responds differently, but the exfoliation is generally mild and manageable.
Q: How does Miami Peel®+ compare to glycolic peels?
A: Unlike glycolic acid, which can dry or irritate the skin over time, Miami Peel®+ uses gentler acids like Lactic, Citric, and Salicylic Acid, which exfoliate while respecting your skin’s natural moisture barrier. This leads to a more balanced, radiant, and youthful glow without enlarged pores or dehydration.
Q: Who is a good candidate for the Miami Peel®+?
A: The peel is suitable for nearly all skin types, including darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–V). It’s ideal for treating:
- Sun damage
- Uneven pigmentation
- Post-acne marks
- Aging and wrinkled skin
- Adult acne and oily skin
Q: Can I use Miami Peel®+ on other areas of the body?
A: Yes. In addition to the face, the peel can improve tone and texture on the neck, chest, hands, and other body areas. Your physician will assess which areas are safe based on your skin type and thickness.
Q: What about sun exposure?
A: Avoid sun exposure during and after your treatment series. Daily use of broad-spectrum sunscreen helps maintain results, protect against future pigmentation, and reduce your risk of skin cancer.
Q: What causes uneven skin tone?
A: Uneven pigmentation may result from:
- Melasma
- Sun damage
- Acne scars
- Hormonal fluctuations
- Medication reactions
As we age, skin cell turnover slows, allowing dead skin cells and excess melanin to accumulate. Miami Peel®+ promotes regular exfoliation, reducing buildup and restoring a smoother, more even appearance.
Q: What is melasma and hyperpigmentation?
A:
- Melasma is a form of hyperpigmentation that appears as dark patches (usually on the forehead, cheeks, or upper lip), most often in women. It’s commonly triggered by hormones, sun exposure, or pregnancy.
- Hyperpigmentation refers to any darkening of the skin due to excess melanin—from freckles to sunspots, acne marks, or discoloration caused by inflammation.
Miami Peel®+ is a highly effective option for both conditions when used as part of a comprehensive skincare regimen.
Some of the causes of Melasma are:
- Hormonal changes caused by the use of birth control pills
- Hormonal changes caused by pregnancy
- Hormonal changes caused by menopause
- Excessive sun exposure
- Reaction to medications or to certain ingredients used in cosmetic products
Hyperpigmentation is a condition caused by excess of pigment (referred to by physicians as melanin) in the skin causing areas of brown spots on any part of the body. Pigmentation levels usually increase with age. Brown spots are a common problem for those who have had excessive sun exposure, are taking synthetic hormones or are undergoing hormonal changes as a result of pregnancy or menopause. There are several types of hyper pigmentation seen in humans:
- Freckles
- Disease-related hyperpigmentation
- Pregnancy-related hyperpigmentation
- Enzymatic deficiencies
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
